What route to plan before you leave

From the town core, Ocotillo Road leads west toward Loop 202. Northwest drivers may reach Loop 202 by Queen Creek or Germann.

State Route 24 gives the northeast side an all-freeway start. Homes near Riggs and Chandler Heights use more surface streets first.

Drivers near Encanterra may use Ironwood before heading west. Pick the route that limits long sitting and rushed walking.

Allow time for traffic, check-in, a careful walk from the car and a few quiet minutes before the joint exam begins, so rushing doesn't worsen the ache you already have. You may want someone else driving home if the joint is hard to use.

When to use the Chandler clinic

The Chandler clinic offers regenerative treatments, its broad name for non-surgical office care that includes concentrated PRP from blood taken from you. The letters PRP mean platelet-rich plasma; staff spin the blood and gather its platelet-rich liquid for the sore joint.

Concentrated means that platelet-rich part has been collected. Ask who'll run your exam and treatment, because the medical provider's title—doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant—needs to be clear.

Use the visit to ask about effort, cost and follow-up. You may hear that home care or another exam makes more sense, because the visit doesn't have to end in treatment.

When to use the closest hospital

Banner Ironwood Medical Center is closer for urgent symptoms. Don't drive past emergency care for a scheduled clinic.

Get quick help if you've got a fever along with a hot, swollen joint. Sudden weakness, a major injury or spreading redness does too.

Call emergency services when driving isn't safe. The Chandler visit can wait until the danger has been checked.

What to take on the drive

Bring a list of your medicines and past joint records. Include the X-ray report if you have one.

Choose clothes that uncover the sore area for the clinic team. Arrange a driver if walking or steering is hard.

Put your most important questions on paper. Ask about the exam, total cost, later visits and whom to call if trouble starts.
